This problem is a lot like our first super-attracting parameter problem but I've tried to set it up so that the resulting equation is a little more manageable.
Let [dmath]f_a(x) = x^4 - a.[/dmath]
A plot of [imath]f[/imath] together with the line [imath]y=x[/imath] and a cobweb is shown in the figure below. The cobweb seems to illustrate that [imath]f[/imath] has an orbit of period 3.
