Preparing for midterm exam - probabilities on a friday night!

  1. (d) Suppose I roll 100 such dice (dice with 12 sides-5 labeled 1, two labeled 2, and 5 labeled 3) and add the results. What is the expected value of my sum?

I invoke the Law of Large Numbers! But I'm confused about this. Rolling a 1 or a 3 have equal likelihood (5/12). Are we solving for p̂ₙ or something? Help!!! :s :s

  • I would use the fact that expectation is additive!
