Discussion about the Text

TheBearMinimum

I figured that since we all have the text, and we don't go over all of it in class, we should have a thread to discuss things in the text we had difficulty understanding (or stuff we just want to discuss).

I would like to share how much I actually enjoy this text! It is by far the best book on math I have read.

TheBearMinimum

This isn't really discussion about the text, but I was in the math lab and decided to look around and see if there was a copy in there. It happens to be on a list for the math lab to buy it. So there may be a copy in the math lab at some point!

If I some how manage to pass this class I will donate my textbook to the math lab.

I gotta say, I actually really ended up liking the textbook we're using this semester. I like the way it's formatted and it's very clear and thorough in its explanations. The homework problems are challenging but open-ended enough that it's been interesting to see how people have approached the same problem using different methods.

Can't wait to finish it in Real II next semester!

Macho_Man

While I cannot say that I will be taking Real II, I wholeheartedly agree that this textbook is the cream of the crop.

Will we be using the same textbook? @qkhan

violincounter

Yeah, he said we'll finish the textbook and then move on to whatever he feels like.

ediazloa

hahaha perfect. Thank you!

I concur guys, this text is awesome. I never thought that I would be interested in reading a math book, but the author does a great job of elucidating the important questions that motivate the problems we are examining this semester. I wish more texts were like this in mathematics.
